Glenwild Loop trail is a great ride through varied terrain with short stiff climbs and some really fun downhill.
The trail is well marked at all major trail intersections making navigation fairly straightforward.
There are lots of switchbacks, some great jumps, and a high speed downhill with some technical rock gardens which make this ride an excellent choice for the area.
Many other trails can be accessed from the Glenwild Loop trail to extend the ride.
Trail Riding Instructions
Clockwise: Climb 2.5 miles to reach the fire road and turn left on the singletrack following the signs for Glenwild Loop. Climb briefly to the ridge and shoot down the steep section full of wide switchbacks. Continue following the signs until reaching the parking area and completing the loop.
Counterclockwise: Ride uphill through the rocky switchbacks continuing straight when a trail merges on the left at about 1.3 miles. Follow all signs for Glenwild Loop on the ride. Once over the first ridge the trails descends rapidly with great jumps and tight switchbacks. The trail flattens out until mile 4 and then climbs steeply to the top of the ridge. Follow the trail as it crosses a paved road and meets the fire road. The trail straight ahead is the cutoff trail which merges with the trail back at mile 1.3. To continue the loop follow the fire road to the right and it becomes the singletrack which loops back to the bridge and parking area.
Directions to trailhead
At the I-80 Park City exit, head north and turn right to the frontage road. Turn left onto Glenwild Dr and park at the parking area near the bathroom. The trail begins up the road just past the bridge. Turn right on singletrack for a counterclockwise loop, left for clockwise.
